The computer science department at Princeton today is unrecognizable to anyone who studied there more than a few years ago. The department faculty involves almost 50 professors working in numerous areas of the field. There are joint appointments with several other departments and computer science has established itself as a core department at Princeton. There are now more undergraduates majoring in computer science than in any other department and there are 25% more course enrollments in computer science than in any other department. Despite this growth,t he department is slated to continue to grow in the coming years and take on additional challenges. IN this talk, I will speak about the forces that led tot his growth, the actual nature of the growth and the plans for future growth.
