M. Şükrü Hanioğlu is the Garrett Professor in Foreign Affairs and Professor of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University. He is a scholar of late Ottoman and Modern Turkey in all its historical, modern and global perspectives. He teaches courses on Ottoman intellectual, political, and social history and Ottoman diplomatics. 
Professor Hanioğlu’s recent publications include Preparation for a Revolution: The Young Turks, 1902-1908 (Oxford, 2001), 538 pp.; Osmanlı’dan Cumhuriyet’e Zihniyet, Siyaset ve Tarih (Istanbul, 2006), 286 pp.; A Brief History of the Late Ottoman Empire (Princeton, 2008), 241 pp.; and Atatürk: An Intellectual Biography (Princeton, 2011), 273 pp.
