Professor Brown will offer an illustrated talk on her shared experiences with Princeton students in courses sponsored by the Seeger Center for Hellenic Studies that featured study trips to Athens and the Greek islands of Crete, Corfu, and Rhodes. With their central focus in the early modern period, these seminars explored issues of cultural exchange in all media and transformations, from classical antiquity through the 20th century.

Patricia Fortini Brown is Professor Emerita of Art and Archaeology at Princeton University. A recipient of Fulbright and Guggenheim Fellowships and the British Academy Serena Medal in Italian Studies, Brown is a distinguished scholar of the art and culture of Medieval and Renaissance Venice.

Professor Brown’s visit is supported by the Erric B. Kertsikoff Fund for Hellenic Studies and the Coumantaros Family Hellenic Studies Research and Study Fund.
