Readings from Denis Feeney and S. Rebecca Martin

We will be reading Chapter 2 (“The Roman Translation Project”) from Denis Feeney, Beyond Greek: The Beginnings of Latin Literature (2016); excerpts from Chapter 5 (“Hybridity, the Middle Ground, and the Conundrum of Mixing,” section titled “Aphrodite in the Middle Ground”) in S. Rebecca Martin, The Art of Contact: Comparative Approaches to Greek and Phoenician Art (2017); and Jennifer Larson, “Bilingual Inscriptions and Translation in the Ancient Mediterranean World” (2011). Readings can be found here.

Lunch will be provided but please RSVP to Eileen Robinson.

Though we hope for participants’ regular attendance, we encourage everyone in the Princeton community who is interested in a given session’s topic to attend.
