Darin Hayton is an Associate Professor of History and Chair of the History Department at Haverford College. His research focuses on astronomy and mathematics in the context of early- modern court politics. His first book, The Crown and the Cosmos, explored the role of astrology at the court of Maximilian I. He is currently researching the revival of mathematics in 14th century Constantinople through the activities of its leading proponent, Nicephorus Gregoras.
