This seminar invites students into the hands-on work of archeological excavation, drawing connections between the methods of archaeology and the broader study of history. Students will learn how we can use archaeological methods to interpret the lives of the people we study as historians, especially the people who are not mentioned in texts, and create new narratives of and questions about the past. In the final project, students working in pairs will excavate, record, analyze, and publish a "burial" using 3D-printed skeletons.
